21st June 2023, Kuching. A new Sarawak-Singapore consortium was launched today at Pullman Hotel, Kuching with the intent of implementing green data centers. The event was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak.
This consortium is formed by TSG Group, a diversified group in Sarawak with transformative businesses in primarily infrastructure, sustainable plantations and real estate, together with Cyclect Group, a regional Singaporean power and engineering company with full-value chain solutions for green data centers.
The consortium seeks to develop the largest renewable energy 200MW data center park in Kota Samarahan. It will be part of FutureGreen District, a new township of mixed developments powered by green infrastructure.
“The data reveals that Sarawak possesses a unique combination of attributes that make it an exceptional location for data center development. The abundance of renewable power sources in Sarawak, including hydroelectric power, provides a sustainable energy supply to fuel data center operations” said Melvin Tan, Managing Director of Cyclect Group.
“TSG seeks to do our part to meet our Premier’s vision towards a digital and sustainable economy. This data centre will be developed in a new integrated green district called FutureGreen District where healthcare, education and high-end residential for overseas friends seeking a second home in Kuching. This district is all powered by green infrastructure such as implementing a circular economy and producing green energy from each household that can also contribute to the grid. It will be Green Living by systems design covering from power, lifestyle, recycling and also how a Sarawakian version of green lifestyle can truly take shape” said Dato Chris Chung, Group CEO of TSG Group
The new company was launched during the gala dinner of Shape the World Summit 2023 with the fitting theme of Future Resilience by Sustainability, a regional impact event that saw the attendance of 300 delegates from the region and Sarawak.
